Kick-Ass International Trailer: Cock Signal
Yup, more Kick-Ass, and yes, it's still very much so. The international trailer is mostly a combination of the two previous, but with a bunch of new, juicy bits thrown in. There's no shortage of violence and laughs, as usual, and some very memorable lines. I for one, cannot freakin' wait for this movie. Trailer below, what're your thoughts?
Clash of the Titans International Trailer
A new, international trailer has been released for the upcoming remake of sorts, Clash of the Titans. A little less style and little more substance this time around, this trailer gives a bit more of the story, but still stays away from many concrete details. Not that that's really the selling point though, I mean, Sam Worthington fights giant monsters is probably enough. Anyways, this one looks like it could be a whole lot of fun, but I'm not yet entirely convinced. Trailer below, any thoughts?
Comic Book Movie Update: Thor, Cap, Green Lantern and The Shadow
A look at what's been happening in the world of comic book movies of late, with everything from concept art to new projects.
Patrick Stewart in Mad Max: Fury Road?
This is the rumour of the day and it comes from Ain't it Cool News. Apparently one of their fans managed to meet Mr. Stewart in Sydney and ask him about the possibility of being a part of a film in Australia.
Debut Trailer for Vanquish
America gets invaded yet again in this debut trailer for the new game Vanquish, from developer Platinum Games. It's a rather flashy trailer that uses both CGI and live-action cut-scenes (sorry, no gameplay footage) to introduce us to yet another shooter.
DVD Deal: Sopranos Complete Series for $119
Here is further proof that Amazon does indeed love us so: The Sopranos: The Complete Seriesis the Goldbox deal of the day, priced at a very reasonable $119.99. The Sopranos is easily one of the greatest TV series of all time, and now you can have all six seasons and two discs of bonus features, all in a very sexy black box set, for 60% off. But hurry, this offer is only valid until Midnight.
Alien vs. Predator: Survivor Mode Trailer
Personally, I'm at the stage where I'll be buying Alien vs. Predator out of principal no matter how good it is. The game was originally banned in Australia, but developer Rebellion stuck to its guns and managed to get the game through the tough ratings system unedited. It pleases me to see the potential for greatness in this game, especially it's multi-player which was highlighted in this latest trailer.
Leno on Oprah, an Opinionated Recap
I literally just finished watching Leno’s appearance on Oprah. I think it’s a safe bet that just about everyone is interested in hearing what he, and Oprah, had to say. In case you missed it, Conan’s out, Leno’s in. That’s how the Tonight Show has been handled. Oprah hopped on a plane to interview Jay on her show, but on his set. While his nice blue chairs are in the background, Oprah’s big comfy white chairs sat proudly on Leno’s “monologue pad.”
Valve: Steam Has 25-million Users
Today, Valve announced it's latest stats on Steam in the last year. According to those statistics, Steam now has over 25 million users, a 25% increase over 2009. 10 million of those accounts have a Steam profile. To put this in perspective, World of Warcraft has about 12 million subscribers. So, in essence, Steam is quite the popular program. In addition, sales have increased by more than 205% over the last year, and Valves estimates about 13 billion "player minutes" per month. So to all those who say PC gaming is dead, put a sock in it will ya?
Explosive Trailer for The Losers
Nicely done gentlemen, MSN has recently grabbed the trailer to the upcoming Vertigo title adaptation, The Losers. While I can't say for sure based solely on these two and a half minutes of footage, I've got pretty high hopes for this one. Although, I've always been a sucker for fun action movies that are heavy on the humor. But for those of you with similar tastes, 2010 is looking to be one hell of a year with The A-Team, The Expendables, Kick-Ass and this all dropping in the coming months. Trailer below, enjoy.
Deal: Blu-Ray Player for $89
Lately it seems, a lot of the DVD deals we've been posting have been for the Blu-Ray variety, which is unfortunate for those of us who do not own a player. Well, we're in luck as Amazon's Gold Box deal of the day is in fact a Blu-Ray player, on sale at a very respectable 55% off. The Sylvania NB530SLX currently holds 4.5/5 stars, so it seems like a reliable piece of hardware, and is priced at a modest $89.99 (with free shipping as usual). This deal is only valid until midnight tonight, so if you need a Blu-Ray player, now's the perfect time to get in on some HD action.
Review: The Lovely Bones
Or: The Bones You Should Get Rid of So You Don’t Get Caught
Directed by Peter Jackson (yes THAT Peter Jackson) and starring Mark Wahlberg and Susan Serandon, The Lovely Bones is the story of 14-year-old Susie Salmon’s (Saoirse Ronan) murder in 1973. Happy, right? Well, she is murdered by her creepy florist neighbor George Harvey (Stanley Tucci) and upon her death is spirited away to this lush purgatory from which she can view the life of her family but can have no physical contact.
First Impression: Marvel Event: Siege
Siege is the latest universe-expanding event from Marvel. It is a work that is supposedly seven years in the making, starting all the way back at Avengers: Disassembled. That was the last time Iron Man, Thor and Captain America were altogether on the same team. All events in between, like House of M, Civil War, Secret Invasion and Dark Reign, have been leading up to this moment: Iron Man, Thor and (Steve Rogers) Captain America are coming back together.
Review: American Saturday Night by Brad Paisley
I'm a mainstream music guy, there is no doubting that, but my mainstream is not the diluted pop music of today. Instead, it's what I call a little bit country, a little bit rock 'n roll. Brad Paisley's latest falls right in there. But does it live up to the standard established by Play? Find out after the jump.
Red Steel 2 Caldera Trailer Excites
It's safe to say that 'hardcore' gamers are kind of few and far between on the Wii. The console has been labeled with the dreaded family friendly moniker, abandoned by several key developers and now hardcore releases for the Wii are few and far between. Enter Red Steel 2: the sequel to one of the Wii's launch titles, Red Steel, and those few remaining hardcore Wii fans hopes for a decent, challenging and mature game outside of Nintendo’s own lineup.
