This is Awesome: Pokemon Black and White
Don't let the title fool you, this isn't a post about the upcoming Pokemon games, Black and White. Instead this is a quick post about an awesome piece of artwork by the Deviantart artist questionthemajority, aka Matthew Garner. The piece of art re-imagines the hugely popular Pokemon series as something that would look more at home in the early Mickey Mouse cartoons of the 20s. It's quite awesome, and would certainly make Pokemon an interesting game to play with such a drastic change in art direction.
Say It Ain't So: Too Many Zombies Can Ruin a Game
Zombies are awesome. They've born the brunt of many a gamer's frustrations over the years, as they're generally pretty easy and satisfying to kill. There also seems to be an endless supply of them, so you'll never run out of things to kill and be chased by. But have you ever wondered just how many zombies is too many? Well Capcom's Shin Ohara has, and he told Gamasutra just that.
Comic-Con: Girls Gone Genre Panel
Comic-Con's "Girls Gone Genre" panel was full of laughs, applause, and surprises. Most of the surprises came at the beginning when moderator and editor-in-chief of io9.com, Annalee Newitz, introduced the panelists. It was shocking, even for a woman like me, to hear the accomplishments of these female pioneers. Of course, there was Felicia Day, who is probably setting a record for attending the most events at Comic-Con. Then there was Kathryn Immonen, who writes the comics Patsy Walker: Hellcat and Runaways. Laeta Kalogridis was next to come on stage, the writer of Shutter Island and executive producer of Avatar. Marti Nixon use to write for Buffy and Angel, but is now known for her work on Mad Men and the remake of Fright Night. Melissa Rosenberg of Dexter and the Twilight series and Gail Simone, writer of Deadpool and Wonder Woman comics, rounded out the panelists.

Comic-Con: Grant Morrison on Everything Comics
After 75 Years of Uncertainty, Grant Morrison Reveals Batman’s Age
Greetings, circuiteers! Last weekend was Comic-Con, and I had the hypertime of my life hearing my favorite comic-book writer in the whole wide multiverse share his thoughts on everything comics! You can listen to the whole thing here, or skim my highlights after the boom-tube jump to get a paraphrased, condensed version of his wisdom; without having to decipher the thick Scottish accent!
Comic-Con: The House That Dripped Blood on Alex
First of all, if you've never seen The Room (2003), written, produced, directed, and starring pulp icon Tommy Wiseau, go and find that movie immediately! It's best to watch it with a group of close friends for maximum hilarity, as it's generally regarded as one of the worst movies ever made. Continuity errors, bad acting, terrible edits, and a simplistic yet puzzling plot make this movie an unintentional win. This "movie" gained popularity rapidly in a niche subculture of society known as college students, which immediately vaulted Tommy Wiseau to the top of the D-list. When people first questioned the sincerity and legitimacy of the movie (because no human being could make that many mistakes in one film, not even Mr. Shyamalan), Wiseau would notoriously become indignant and assert that his movie is a legitimate drama, then quickly turned around and state that it was actually a ‘black comedy’ that was meant to be funny.
AVCON Hands-On: The Indie Games Room
AVCON is the Anime and Video Games Convention and, I’ll admit, I was far more interested in checking out the video game side of things than the anime. What I really wanted to check out was the Indie Games Room, which housed the very small South Australian game development community I didn’t even know existed. The room was home to a bunch of young developers looking to drum up some interest and feedback on their games. I got to play nearly all of what was on offer and here’s a brief rundown of my time with the games.
Sucker Punch: 80+ Pics for Your Eye Pleasure
Even if you hate Zack Snyder (Matt...), you have to admit, there's a lot of stuff crammed into the Sucker Punch trailer. Even if you're like me and have watched the trailer a half a dozen times already, odds are, you've still probably missed something. Luckily for you though, we now have a gallery up with all the Sucker Punch pics you could want. Along with a good batch of a couple dozen screencaps from the trailer, I've also included the character posters and some concept art. So, enjoy!
Matt's Rantbox: Comic-Con 2010 Wrap-Up
Or: So What if I Skipped Days 2-4?
So, when you last heard from me on my experiences at Comic-Con, it was the end of Day 1 and I was a little bit peeved. Well, now that the Con is over, I’m sure that you’re dying to know whether my mood improved; and now that I’ve had a couple of days to look back on it, what I think of the Con as a whole. What? You’re Not? Well too bad.
Shogun 2: Total War Gameplay Cinematic
I don't really know what a gameplay cinematic is. I'm assuming, based on the information provided, that it's a trailer that uses the actual in-game graphics engine instead of prerendered footage. I'm sure I've seen them in action before, and have just never known the name for them. Anyway, if that's the case, then Shogun 2: Total War has a mindblowingly awesome in-game engine, judging by this trailer.
Thor Trailer Leaked, Watch it While You Can!
The trailer for Marvel's Thor debuted in Hall H at Comic-Con last weekend, and while we're not really supposed to be able to... it's now available online for the rest of us to see. You're going to want to hurry though, as this probably won't last too long. Check it out below, courtesy of some anonymous leaker through Megavideo:
Titanic 2 Movie Trailer, Seriously (Sorta)
Well, sort of... This is in fact a movie trailer for a film titled Titanic 2. It does not however have anything to do with James Cameron (no matter how much I wish it did).
Ghost Recon: Future Soldier Short Film Teaser
A teaser for Ubisoft's live action short film based on the upcoming game, Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, has debuted online with the title Ghost Recon: Alpha. The short film, which is being directed by Francois Alaux and Herve De Cercy, will be released at the same time as the game. Ubisoft recently announced that the game is being pushed back to the first quarter of 2011, and the trailer shows that the short has followed suit.
Review: Under the Red Hood
The Dark Knight has returned in classic 90s Batman: The Animated Series fashion. This time, he's appearing in the latest DC Universe Animated Original Movies direct-to-DVD flick, Batman: Under the Red Hood. Drawing upon the pages of the infamous "Death in the Family" storyline, and the more recent Judd Winick “Under the Read Hood” arc in the pages of Batman, this film provides 70 minutes of fun, adventure and (most importantly of all) Batman.
Comic-Con: Dead Space 2 Preview
On the final day of Comic-Con, while wandering around the streets of San Diego, I spotted an EA sign pointing towards a random building. As I got closer, I saw Dead Space 2 and Dragon Age 2 signs posted and said, "What the hell?" and walked over to said random building. Where Necromorphs proceeded to stab me in the face.
