Star Wars: Uncut will Blow Your Mind
You've got to hand it to Star Wars fans, they certainly are a creative bunch. The latest fan based endeavor, which is attracting considerable attention, is Star Wars: Uncut . The project, spearheaded by Casey Pugh back in 2009, sought to reconstruct the original film, Star Wars A New Hope, by collecting 473 15-second films made by fans. The original film was spliced into 15 second clips and fans could claim a scene and make it their own. The scenes were snapped up in three days after going live and eventually 901 clips were submitted.
Oh My God: An AT-AT Made of Bacon
We here at the 8th are a fan of bacon, hell you could even say we love bacon. Most of us are also fans of Star Wars, as any geek worth his weight should be. With that in mind The Hollywood Reporter has found something which nearly made my heart stop, with both sheer joy and from thinking about a lot of bacon. I present to you, the Bacon AT-AT. A 21 hour labor of love that stands at three feet tall and uses 40 pounds of bacon to create a whole lot of awesome. The bacon is attached to a foam cut out of an AT-AT and was built by the guys over at This is Freaking Ridiculous. Check it out below, and prepare to salivate:
This is Fun: Piano Improv on Chat Roulette
Prepare yourself for the funniest/coolest thing you've seen all day. Chatroulette, in case you haven't heard of it, is a collection of penises with webcams. Well, not quite, but pretty close. It's actually a website that pairs random people with webcams, and too much time, with other random people. It's an interesting idea in concept, and kind of hilarious in practice. One user in particular though decided Chatroulette just wasn't awesome enough for him. And how does one go about making things more awesome? Piano improv of course. I'll leave it at that, enjoy:
This is Awesome: Captain Mario
Ever felt like Mario needed to be more badass? Ever felt that just jumping on enemies or throwing fireballs wasn't enough? Well Deviantart artist agentscarlet must have thought so, as Mario and Peach have been given a new lease on life in his artwork "Super Mario Warfare." The artist comments that its "Super Mario with guns! Peach is now a scientist that gets kidnapped all the time and Mario is a veteran spec ops commando." Seriously, Super Mario with guns? I'm there. I mean doesn't that sound like a Mario game you'd like to play? It'd at least give us something more 'hardcore' on the Wii. Picture after the jump.
This is Awesome: Star Wars In Dubai!
No, your eyes do not deceive you, these are in fact photos of Star Wars characters in present day Dubai. Now I know what you must be thinking, 'why are there Star Wars characters in Dubai?' The answer: because the French magazine Amusement is awesome and likes to take cool looking photos of geeky stuff. This series was taken by Cedric Deslaux and if you can read French (sadly I can't) then you can check out the website and read an interview with the photographer that gives a little more insight into the shoot.
