If you're one of those die-hard animation enthusiasts that consider animation NOT from Japan, then you're excited about Genndy Tartakovsky finally coming through on his promise to end the story of Samurai Jack with a full length feature. Most people had lost hope that there would ever be a finale to his epic duel with the great antagonist Aku, (voiced by the late Mako) but Fred Seibert, head of Federator Films, has announced that they are bringing the samurai to the big screen with none other than J. J. Abrams as the co-producer.

Don't worry! Genddy is the other co-producer as well as director. I know, I was worried too. For those of you who aren't familiar with Genndy, you may remember him bringing us such animated marvels as The Power Puff Girls, Dexter's Laboratory, and the two five minute miniseries The Clone Wars (Not the bad CG one).

Genndy has always had a touch for the overly comical, even in his most serious scenes in Samurai Jack, and so I relish the opportunity to see a more serious and possibly mysterious aroma a la J. J. Abrams. While I am a purist and think that if Genndy Tartakovsky filled every position in this movie it would be AWESOME, I actually think that this mingling of talents could lead to a much more Hollywood friendly and therefore successful endeavor that might actually be better. But more importantly, Samurai Jack may be the spearhead in Fred Seibert's campaign to "rectify the death of 2D animation."

Here's a collection of clips from the show (set to the least obnoxious music I could find) to tantalize you!
