This is Embarrassing: Sony Puts Armored On PlayStation Network
That's right, the Nimrod Antal directed feature film, Armored, which I'm really interested in seeing given that Antal is directing the new Predator film, ended up on the PlayStation Network for download.
The film, which debuted in the States on the 4th of December last year, but hasn't hit other markets like the UK and Australia yet, was reportedly available for free, that's right FREE, on Wednesday. Now I know what you must be thinking, “It wasn't the entire film available right? It was just part of it?” Well you would be wrong. Kotaku reported that the film was available in its entirety for a full five hours before someone at Sony realized their colossal mistake and took the film down.
Someone is surely going to get fired over that move; I mean the film wasn't just available, it was available for free. How does a mistake like that happen at a company like Sony? Actually scrap that. I'm more surprised stuff like this doesn't happen more often. Laziness, rebelliousness, pioneering spirit, or just plain pissed off workers are sure to be abundant at a place like Sony. I would be interested in knowing just how many people downloaded the film, as you needed to search for Armored in the PlayStation Video Store to find the film (don't try it now because it has been taken down), but I doubt those figures will ever be released.
