Legend of Zelda Spirit Tracks TV Ad
I am a massive Zelda fan, and while I have mostly stuck to the console games in the series, I have dabbled in the handheld versions and found them to be overall fun, challenging adventure games that are easy to fall in love with. Obviously that is the opinion of many, as The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks for the Nintendo DS is one of the most highly anticipated games for the holidays. It stars an iconic character and is one of Nintendo's personal properties, an instant formula for success. The game also features the character Zelda, and in a first for the series, players will actually be able to take control of her as she helps Link on his quest to save the land of Hyrule once again.
Nintendo has now released a rather charming TV ad for the game to further the buzz leading up to the holidays. The trailer looks very Chronicles of Narnia, as a young boy is seen riding a train that transports him to the world of Hyrule. All I can say is dammit why can't I be the kid who gets to go to Hyrule?
Also, while searching for information on Spirit Tracks, I came across a bit of information about the next console outing for Link. Eiji Aonuma, a producer on the upcoming Link game for the Wii, responded to Shigeru Miyamoto's comments that this next installment will not be drastically different from previous games (this was mainly in response to crazy talk of the next game taking place in the future and other ideas).
Aonuma stated "we have been trying something new in terms of the structure of the Wii version of the new Zelda game this time. I am really hopeful that people will be surprised with the changes we have implemented for this Wii version. He went on to say that we can expect to see some of these changes at E3 2010, "I hope that we can show you something at the E3 show next year and it is something we are hopeful will be surprising."
Link was noticeably absent from this year's show, with Miyamoto declaring that the studio's time would be better spent working on the game rather than putting together a flashy presentation. Something new and surprising regarding Zelda at next years E3, a demonstration of what a Zelda game will look like built for the ground up for the Wii (Twilight Princess was originally built for the Gamecube) and a demonstration of MotionPlus Zelda action, can I please book my ticket for E3 2010 now?
