Prince of Persia Movie Trailer Unveiled

The trailer for the live action Prince of Persia movie has hit the web today. Starring Hollywood actors such as Jake Gyllenhal (as the Prince), Ben Kingsley and Alfred Molina, the film could possibly be the next Pirates of the Caribbean for Disney with its mix of action, comedy and beautiful people. The film certainly has the right crew attached to it to be a success, especially with producer extraordinaire Jerry Bruckheimer on-board.

Now I didn't play the games, I never got round to them, but the trailer seemed to hold true to what I know about the story (magical dagger, holder can wield time, Prince must stop the bad guys) and as I said before it looks like they are trying to throw some of what made the Pirates of the Caribbean series so popular into the film. There is no Johnny Depp unfortunately, but there is the kick ass Ben Kingsley who should make for a rather memorable bad guy (hopefully for good reasons). On the whole I thought the trailer was rather awesome; the locations and costumes all looked great, the freezing of time by the dagger was so cool as things slowly ground to a halt, there was plenty of sand, and overall it just looks like a fun, action packed adventure. Prince of Persia: Sand of Time is set for a May 28, 2010 release. This one could be good, very good.

While the visuals look great, I refuse to forgive them for casting Jake Gyllenhal as the "prince of Persia". Disgraceful

Yea fair call, his accent sounds a bit odd as well, kind of like orlando bloom in pirates of the Caribbean....at least he doesn't sound blatantly American???

well, at least it looks better than most video-game-to-movie adaptations

The guy that played a suicidal schizo, a bubbleboy nerd, and a gay cowboy is not a persian action hero? yeah, that makes sense. He looks retarded with long hair too. That's like casting Seth Rogen as the green hornet. wait? what? Should've cast Jim Caviezel aka Jesus. At least he looks middle eastern.
I dunno, I thought it looked pretty cool...
