After two very unimpressive works and a year-long dabble in episodic content, could this be American McGee's return to form? Over eight months ago, the much anticipated followup to McGee's classic, Alice, was officially announced. Since then, we've heard almost nothing. Well, our patience has finally been rewarded, with one hell of a creepy trailer. While this almost certainly doesn't reflect gameplay footage, reminding me a great deal of the film Coraline, it's still really cool. It also officially titles the game, Return of Alice, and gives us a vague release window: 2011. Check it out below and when you're done with that, be sure to head over to the game's awesome interactive site.

What's up with the return to claymation in the independent animation world? I mean there's this, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and that Mary and Max Movie? I always found claymation an extremely hit or miss sort of art form. Burton was always spot on but movies like chicken run just fell flat for me.

hm, story could be interesting but if they're using claymation in cutscenes, it'll look weird I think for kstormy's question (forgive the tangent), claymation is a cross between live action and animation, and it is useful in a story that blurs reality and fantasy because you have a medium that easily mimics physical objects that are found in reality (and it's a medium more grounded in reality for an audience, as opposed to animation) but is malleable enough to warp this reality. So it works really well in films like Coraline and TNBC, which both have an atmosphere of 'supernatural fantasy' that couldn't be as easily achieved by animation or live-action (imho)

I have to say I rather liked the cheshire cat. The animation did detract from it a bit though. Particularly in alice's character. Just an opinion I suppose, I'm optimistic.
