This is Fun: The Beastie Boys' Sabotage Meets Battlestar Galactica

The Beastie Boys' "Sabotage" may have risen (further) in Geekdom thanks in large part to J.J. Abrams Star Trek. Well now we have even more reason to dust off those old CDs (I know you have them) after watching youtube's katamaran78 “Galactica: Sabotage.” The video is a nearly shot-for-shot recreation of the original video for "Sabotage" using footage from the reimagined BSG. Check out the music video, and a side-by-side comparison, below:

Fresh from his win at the Oscars on Sunday, Christoph reveals to Jimmy Kimmel the greatest role he has ever played. No one could possibly describe this masterpiece.

This is Awesome: Star Wars In Dubai!

No, your eyes do not deceive you, these are in fact photos of Star Wars characters in present day Dubai. Now I know what you must be thinking, 'why are there Star Wars characters in Dubai?' The answer: because the French magazine Amusement is awesome and likes to take cool looking photos of geeky stuff. This series was taken by Cedric Deslaux and if you can read French (sadly I can't) then you can check out the website and read an interview with the photographer that gives a little more insight into the shoot.

Silverhawk goes to Naka Kon

Hey, guest writer Silverhawk79 here. A few weeks back, I had the privilege of attending a local anime convention, Naka-Kon. This was to be my first convention, and it was quite an experience. The con itself was held in a Hyatt Regency hotel in Kansas City, ensuring plenty of space for the various panels and merch booths.

Review: Final Fantasy XIII

Ever since it was announced at E3 2006, Final Fantasy XIII has been one of the most anticipated games of all time. Though the US release date is still about a month away, I was able to import the PS3 version of the game from Japan. With my Japanese language skills and additional translational help on the internet, I was able to dive right into Final Fantasy 13. About 50 hours later, I was finished and completely blown away. There are many reasons why this game could appeal to you (or not), so I’ll try to look at it as objectively as I can.

This is Fun: Tim Burton’s Secret Formula

Are you excited about Alice in Wonderland, but feel like maybe we've Tim Burton do this before? Well, so does College Humor. Check out their take on Tim Burton's "secret formula" in their latest sketch below:

Matt's Rantbox: Video Game Cover Art

Or: The Good, and in this case, The Bad and The Ugly are the same.

I read a pretty interesting interview with Charles Bae of Rokkan design over at Kotaku recently. The article focused primarily on video game box art, the in’s and out’s of the industry and a couple of examples of bad artwork.

This is Awesome: Admiral Ackbar Springs Ole Miss Trap?

Every Star Wars fan, or fan of popular culture in general, should know who Admiral Ackbar is. The good Admiral appeared in Return of the Jedi as the leader of the Rebel Alliance's fleet that was sent to destroy the second Death Star. The Admiral, after his fleet sprung an Imperial trap, uttered the now legendary line "It's a trap!" The line propelled the Admiral to cult like status and the character has since made appearances in shows like Robot Chicken. It seems, though we could be seeing a whole lot more of the Admiral, especially in North America, if reports out of Ole Miss are to be believed.

Anaheim Hoping to Steal Comic-Con

For anyone who's been to Comic-Con, the largest gathering of its kind in the Western Hemisphere, you already know of the massive number of attendees, the nonexistent hotel rooms, and the general hassle of moving through the packed convention center. With 126,000 fans crammed into the San Diego Convention Center, organizers have run out of exhibitor space and attendees are without hotel room prospects. A proposal to expand the Convention Center has been endorsed by citizens of the area, but there are currently no plans to implement this idea. With these issues in mind, it's no surprise that there's talk of moving the convention from it's birthplace in San Diego.
