LOLwut: Gaga in Wonderland
Apparently for youtube's Black20, Tim Burton's recent Alice in Wonderland just wasn't weird enough. And what's the easiest way to weird-up any mundane old thing? Lady Gaga, clearly. "When Wonderland is threatened by a pop-music hating Queen Of Hearts, Lady Gaga returns to her homeland to kick some evil ass... but mainly dance, sing, and weird it up." It might not be a professional level mashup, but it's pretty hilarious and worth it just for the concept. Check it out below:
This is Fun: Check out the 2010 Winner for Best Animated Short, Logorama
Curious about Logorama, winner of the Prix Kodak at Cannes and the Oscar for Best Animated Short? Well awesomely, the short, in its entirety, has been uploaded to Vimeo for your viewing pleasure. It's a really interesting and somewhat nonsensical take on logos and branding in modern society, animated in a really fun and unique way. Check it out below:
Christoph Waltz : A Musical
Fresh from his win at the Oscars on Sunday, Christoph reveals to Jimmy Kimmel the greatest role he has ever played. No one could possibly describe this masterpiece.
Tron Legacy Trailer = Awesome
Fan boys rejoice (the ones who didn't go out and see Alice this weekend that is), for the Tron Legacy trailer is now available online, albeit in 2D. I have to say, while I'm not the biggest Tron fan ever, this was a pretty cool looking trailer. The VFX look stunning, and the music... well Daft Punk is just pure amazing. Check out the trailer below and let me know what you think:
This is Awesome: Star Wars In Dubai!
No, your eyes do not deceive you, these are in fact photos of Star Wars characters in present day Dubai. Now I know what you must be thinking, 'why are there Star Wars characters in Dubai?' The answer: because the French magazine Amusement is awesome and likes to take cool looking photos of geeky stuff. This series was taken by Cedric Deslaux and if you can read French (sadly I can't) then you can check out the website and read an interview with the photographer that gives a little more insight into the shoot.
Iron Man 2 Gets a Badass New Trailer
I shouldn't even have to write anything to convince you to watch this trailer. But if, for whatever strange reason, you need motivation to check out two and a half minutes of badassery... let me just say, Iron Man and War Machine fighting robots! Yeah!
The 2010 Academy Awards Were...
Predictable. Fairly amusing. That is all. Read on for the full results. Or don't, you can probably guess them.
Review: Alice in Wonderland
If years ago someone had asked me who I would like to see adapt Alice in Wonderland into a live action film, I would have said Tim Burton. I doubt, however, that I would have said Linda Woolverton would do the screenplay. Her background in animation (Beauty and the Beast, Lion King, Mulan) makes her great for a Disney animated remake, but she’s not quirky enough for a Burtonesque film. This is reflected in the movie, where the direction is strong and the script is weak. As my new boss said to me, if you’re a Tim Burton fan you will like it, otherwise you won’t.
Review: Shutter Island
Shutter Island is a new direction for Scorsese, the man who directed Taxi, Goodfellas, and The Aviator, as he now dips his furry brows in the suspense thriller genre. The movie succeeds on a fairly basic level, and the twist is fairly memorable, if not predictable, mostly due to poorly conceived trailers and pandemic word of mouth.
