Whom do you believe is the voice of our generation?

By Omid Amidi - Posted on 09 December 2008

Many are fighting over the title, and everybody has diffrent opinion. I really want to know who you guys look up to and say wow, I can relate to that guy. Do you believe that being popular makes you the voice of a generation? or do you think that being inspiring makes you the voice of a generation?

Miley Cyrus wins the popularity race...I dunno, is there such a thing as "voice" of the generation anymore? compare the lyrics of today's musicians to 2Pac, Kurt Cobain etc. Yeah our stars are hotter than way back when but they sound awful (just talking about some mainstream, not all. though it seems that the recording industry and movie industry put talent on the backseat to looks and blandness)

Lara croft???? Where did that come from???? I think that its like mix between Jon Stewart and Barack Obama. I can't site anyone in the music business or in hollywood because everyone has diffrent opinions about those.

unless we're intending to be kinda ambiguous (nothing wrong with that) it seems we have replies to two questions here. Some people are interpreting the question as "whose opinion best exemplifies that of our generation?" and other people are interpreting the question as "who has the most aurally distinctive voice in our generation?" and since I love contributing answers (sarcasm there), I'll just also throw out the question: what is a generation? legally speaking, I think generations are separated by 25 years. But does that mean 1975-2000 is our generation, or 1990-2015? (I choose 1990 because the Cold war ended) Or are we talking a different time frame, say 'everyone born in the 90s' or 'everyone born in the internet age' or 'everyone born after the Cold War'?
Lets go with all of them??????? I dont know where the generations begin and end really. AHHHAA lets go with Generation Y, which is us right???? cuz the past generation was generation x!!!!!

my truths > mr fraizer's truths I'm sorry to have destroyed your world view.

Well for me,I thnik its not about the popularity but the personality itself. I have a friend and  he inspires a lot of lives. He's not popular, but he has this...uhm, I really don't know what he has but he has this power to inspire and let other people idolized him.
