You are hereAgent Coulson
It's finally here! After rumors, casting announcements and leaked trailers, the first official promo has just been released.
Fans of Agent Phil Coulson of The Avengers rejoice! The first footage from the Agents of SHIELD pilot airs tomorrow, Sunday, May 12 at 8pm before the season finale of Once Upon a Time on ABC. The show will expand the story of The Avengers, with a focus on SHIELD agents, with Joss Whedon as executive producer and the pilot’s director.
We all remember good ol' Coulson, right? The S.H.I.E.L.D. agent made a few appearances in various Marvel movies before ultimately kicking the bucket in The Avengers. Well last year, Marvel revealed that Coulson would reprise his role in the upcoming ABC pilot Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. No big deal. Maybe Coulson was a clone! Or perhaps S.H.I.E.L.D. utilizes time travel to save their deceased members! Turns out none of the (far more interesting) theories out there are correct. A source has spilled the beans, and the beans are, to be honest, a lot more bland than I was hoping for.
Renowned director Joss Whedon, creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly and Dollhouse, is well known for creating worlds that draw in fans by the millions. He consistently develops supporting characters with fan-bases on par with or even surpassing those of the leading characters. A prime example is Agent Phil Coulson from The Avengers. Although Coulson didn't have super powers, he still had a powerful impact on the audience.
At the Marvel Television Presents panel at New York Comic Con, Clark Gregg made a surprise appearance to announce that his character's not quite done yet. Agent Coulson is officially confirmed to be appearing in the pilot for Marvel's S.H.I.E.L.D., the live-action TV series set in Marvel's cinematic universe.
The Avengers is an amazing feat in and of itself; its very existence represents the culmination of four different film franchises and five years’ worth of hard work. I have to commend Marvel studios on actually managing to bring together a project this huge, and not screwing it up.
A little while back, a new Marvel short entitled The Consultant was previewed. It seemed to bridge the gap between The Incredible Hulk and Iron Man 2, and at the time, it seemed like it would be exclusive to the Thor DVD release. Not so however, as Marvel has been generous enough to release the entire short film online. Check out some details as well as the video below.
Marvel's been planning a series of "one-shot" short films that would accompany their features for a while now, and they've just released a look at their first one. It stars Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson and will be featured on the Thor DVD/Blu-ray release. More details as well as the clip below.
