Rumored: The First Middle-Aged Bond Girl!
Although it hasn't been confirmed (or denied), Penelope Cruz is rumored to be the next Bond girl. Cruz, best-known for her award-winning role in Vicky Christy Barcelona, will be 42 when the next Bond movie comes out. Sure, that's not super old, but if these rumors are true, Cruz will be the oldest Bond girl to date.
Movie Review: Skyfall
Considering the director of Skyfall was Sam Mendes, the guy behind massive action blockbusters such as American Beauty and Revolutionary Road, it’s hard to imagine how this could have been a good Bond film, nevermind what some are calling one of the best of the series. Yet, after the intensely dull Quantum of Solace, and a four year gap between the two films, a new take on the iconic character is exactly what this franchise needed. Skyfall not only manages to reinvent and surprise in a franchise that’s lasted over five decades, but it does so while keeping the spirit and appeal of a James Bond film alive.
James Bond Rises [Skyfall Review]
Throughout a 50 year tenure in cinema, (more in literature), James Bond has become an icon and symbol of an era when nationalism was high, paranoia was at the door, and political correctness was moot. In much the same way that Christopher Nolan sought to sweep the campy era(s) of Batman under the rug, the Daniel Craig films have striven to revamp the character with renewed relevance, while not ignoring the iconic elements that make Bond, James Bond. Two things have made this work; humanizing Bond, which simultaneously made the increased grittiness of Craig’s Bond more real; and keeping Judi Dench as M, Bond’s direct commander in MI6 whose tutting motherliness is offset by a solid tenacity and chilly ruthlessness.

Bond's Back: 'Skyfall' Full-Length Trailer
I still haven't forgotten how much I disliked Quantum of Solace, but Sam Mendes might be on to something if this trailer is any indication. Not only is the action both stellar and stylish, but we also get a good look at Ben Whishaw as Q and Javier Bardem's continuing war on his hair. Check out the trailer below.
Four Reasons We Are Looking Forward to Skyfall
Daniel Craig has really come into his own as James Bond. Casino Royale quickly has risen as one of the top 5 casino movies of all time and Quantum of Solace was considered to be one of the most action packed movies of the franchise. Now, a new Bond film due out in October known as Skyfall may be one of the best of the franchise. Below are some reasons why we are looking forward to the latest 007 film.
The Sky is Falling: James Bond 'Skyfall' Teaser Trailer Has Arrived
I'll just say this up front, I did not care for Quantum of Solace one bit. However, I've always thought that Daniel Craig has a very refreshing take on the character, and the third entry into the "Craig-Bond" series is being helmed by Sam Mendes, who has done some very impressive dramatic work. And while the teaser is quite light on story, it does feature some beautiful images by Roger Deakins, so that's something. More details and the teaser itself below.
