It’s probably not surprising that Wreck-It Ralph already has a potential sequel. Due to the film’s record breaking box office numbers, it makes sense for there to already be talk of a sequel and what it would involve. The film’s director, Rich Moore, and its stars, John C. Reilly and Sarah Silverman, have all expressed interest in coming back for a second installment.

Video games have been a confused art form since their inception in the Cold War Era. Originally they were invented as just a simple pastime- hence the “game” label. But over the years, with increasing technology, they have, more and more, come into their own, with plots, characters, twists. There is still the sense that they mostly take cues from films, but considering how far they have come in 30ish years, the leaps have been impressive. Disney’s latest film looks into this rapid, confused evolution of an artform. With its tongue-in-cheek nostalgia and needle-sharp computer generated imagery, it’s a film that doesn’t squander any opportunities.
