Rap originated in  Jamaica... Then it moved to Bronx, NY.

That actually seems to make sense.  I don't think it's the music itself that generated in Scotland, but the duels are definitely likely.  Then again, you can go further back and say the HARPSICHORD BATTLES were the start of them too.
