So apparently, yet not very surprisingly, Spiderman 4 is in the works and is now slated for a release date of May 6, 2011. Thoughts on the upcoming film or the franchise in general?

raimi is a notorious over-collaborator, which is why 3 was so darn bad. if you look at his original script and ideas 90% of the crap in that film wasnt there (especially emo peter.) since raimi and macguire are contracted for 4 and 5 they are for sure, but kirsten dunst hasnt signed on and has many times said she despises the franchise. so odds are looking at 4 moving on to gwen stacey?

Spider-man doesn't exactly have the best cast of villains, and with the big three (Both Goblins, Doc Ock, and Venom) all used up, I doubt it'll be that interesting.
Besides, the films have done nothing but go downhill from the get go. 2 wasn't quite as good as 1, and 3 was just plain bad. Not to mention I don't think the story really has anywhere to go...

Well no crap, that's all they've ever cared about the last fifteen years or so. As the AmazingAtheist said in his trailer failure series on ThatGuyWithTheGlasses: "What is it going to take to get Hollywood to start making pictures with good interesting stories with compelling characters who grow and endear themselves towards us again?"

While Spiderman 3 was total ass, I have to admit that Tobey Maguire fit the part pretty well. It's going to be pretty difficult to get the image of Maguire as Peter Parker out of my head when I watch the new one.

oh god, my local newspaper is reporting that Robert Pattison is rumoured to be in the running to play Peter Parker in the Spider-Man reboot. interestingly they provide no proof for this rumour, nothing at all http://www.news.com.au/adelaidenow/story/0,22606,26590776-5006343,00.html
