When it comes to gaming pc's, which do you think is the better approach. On one hand, building it yourself saves a lot of money. But it also takes up a lot of time and can mean that if you mess up, your responsible for troubleshooting the machine. What do you guys think?

BUILD! I don't have a lot of experience building PC's (I've only really built one, although I've helped others), but I've found that the 'hassle' and 'troubleshooting' encompassed with building PC's actually really fun Cheesy By the end you really feel like the PC is your machine.

Not to mention it also saves you a butt-ton of cash. The PC I built cost 1,650$ to build, and would have cost 3,600$ if I had bought the same thing fully assembled.

I prefer a combination of the two, buy somewhat of a base machine, then soup it up.

I say build
you no exactly what's going into your machine and if there are any problems you know exactly why. Also, you can then custom-tailor your machine to your needs

Just to add on, building gives you a kickass brag sheet. Also, I agree with Matt in the tech support aspect; I just did a self-diagnosis and replaced my power supply and fixed my comp, something I would never do without the building experience I got.
