'American Horror Story' Season 3 Titled 'Coven'
The popular creepy haunted house series, American Horror Story, has announced limited, but compelling details for its third season titled, "Coven." Although, its supernatural and complex layers initially centered around ghosts and spirits, the title seems to suggest that the upcoming season might venture into witches and twisted, dark magic.
Series creator, Ryan Murphy, has confirmed the change of scenery and subject matter, "The fun thing about doing the show is researching what are the really haunted places in America, because every year the institution is one of the lead characters."
After a panel discussion with the cast and crew at PaleyFest this past Friday, star, Dylan McDermott, mentioned Salem witches in regards to the upcoming season. It is set to film in several atmospheric locations, such as New Orleans.
Many of the cast members will be returning, including Evan Peters, Jessica Lange, Lily Rabe, Taissa Farmiga, and Sarah Paulson. The main attraction on the newcomer list is Kathy Bates as a crazed antagonist to Jessica Lange's character who used to be best friends before they became bitter and deadly enemies. Bates reported this character to be even darker than her academy award winning role as Annie Wilkes in Misery.
At the PaleyFest discussion, Murphy also hinted at a possible companion piece to American Horror Story revolving around the immortal and bloodsucking beasts, vampires. There are sure to be many more indulging, dramatic, and morbid things to come out of the Horror Story world soon.
