Dark Knight Notes: Set Photos, Batcopter Rumor, Wayne Manor
Production on Christopher Nolan's epic conclusion to his Batman trilogy is in full swing, and we've got another batch of news, rumors, set photos and more below the break. Check 'em out and let me know what you think.
Wollaton Park in Nottingham, England has been closed off to visitors, as it will be the new Wayne Manor in TDKR. Looks very regal and Wayne-ish to me.
Will Batman 3 have a Batcopter? A sound guy working on the set of the film seems to think so. Excuse me while I have a few painful Schumacher flashbacks... in Nolan we trust... in Nolan we trust...
James Newton Howard will not be returning to help Hans Zimmer with the soundtrack. Zimmer also states that he's been listening to a lot of Verdi, Alison Goldfrapp, and electronica music to help him prepare.
A user on the Nolan Fans forums is claiming he knows the specific meaning behind the viral catchphrase "The Fire Rises." Possible heavy spoiler, so head on over there to read it.
BBC News is reporting that stuntmen have been jumping out of a black jet:
"Parachutists dressed in black and using a private jet painted black have been in action at Cairngorm Gliding Club's site at Feshie Bridge.
A former US military C130 Hercules transport aircraft linked to The Dark Knight Rises has also been making flights from Inverness Airport.
Feshie Bridge was reported as the location for filming earlier this month by Gavin Musgrove, editor of the Strathspey and Badenoch Herald.
A chartered helicopter was also at the club's airstrip along with the black jet."
Here's a picture of said jet as partial confirmation. Bat...plane?
Speaking of planes, there's a stunt in the movie that Nolan isn't sure he and crew can pull off (as it calls for shutting down a major highway, among other things). Possible spoiler alert!
The movie crew desperately want to film this. It’s a key section of the film. Batman is on board a plane that is hurtling to the ground. The script says he takes control of it and lands it on the road while it’s on fire. People are going to love it. It’s a tremendous challenge.
A casting call for sports fan extras has gone out to be "cheering on the Gotham Rogues Football team as they take the field against the Rapid City Monuments."
On August 6, The Dark Knight Rises will be filming a scene in Pittsburgh involving a football game between the Gotham Rogues and the Rapid City Monuments and they need fans to cheer on these teams for the shot! Participants will get to be a part of the action which will include stunts, explosions and special effects. And even though this isn’t a paid gig, everyone will get free food throughout the day and a chance to win great raffle prizes between takes!
In other extras related news, apparently a big party is going down at "Wayne Manor." Considering the history of parties in the series, I'm sure this one won't go so smoothly (why does Bruce keep throwing these?).

Anne Hathaway has been training her ass off to fit the role of Catwoman, according to the new issue of Harper’s Bazaar,
Anne’s preparation for her role as Catwoman in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, the next Batman installment (currently filming in Pittsburgh), has been more than cosmetic. She has been working out five days a week — rigorous exercise and stunt training followed by an hour and a half of dance. “I’ve always thought that skinny was the goal, but with this job I also have to be strong,” she says.
And most importantly, a Battruck totally ran into a Batwall.
