Fans Outraged by 'Fifty Shades of Grey' Casting, Ben Affleck Can Finally Emerge from His Bunker
Ben Affleck can finally take a deep breath, as he may soon lose his status as the most hated casting decision on the internet. Just hours after the leads of Fifty Shades of Grey were announced, fans were already up in arms about it. A Change.org petition has been started, and has already garnered over 13,000 signatures. That is a lot of bondage fans.
Variety states that "many loyalists had set sights on White Collar’s Matt Bomer to play the troubled billionaire and of Gilmore Girls fame to play Steele." Personally, I was hoping for Ben Affleck and Nic Cage in these two roles.
The petition's description is about as borderline creepy as you might expect (CAPS theirs, not mine):
Matt Bomer is the PERFECT DESCRIPTION OF CHRISTIAN GREY AND ALEXIS BLEDEL IS THE PERFECT ACTRESS TO REPRESENT ANASTASIA STEELE and if THEY ARE NOT, NOBODY WILL BE And I read the whole trilogy and I can assure that Matt is the perfect actor for this movie and Alexis too. So please PLEASE, all of the GREYsessed and Bomerettes in the world NEED those actors. They always will be for us the Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. WE CAN DO ANYTHING GUYS, ANYTHING.
The campaign still has a ways to go before meeting Affleck's 90,000 signature petition, but it's certainly on its way. After all, they can do anything. ANYTHING.
Fifty Shades of Grey is a something or other that has sexy times in it. It is apparently pretty popular. The movie version will be released on August 1, 2014, just in time to crush Guardians of the Galaxy at the box office.
