Alright comic book fans, Joss Whedon has gone on the record, an outline for Avengers 2 has made its way to studio heads. This news isn’t much, but it’s enough to say that the film is right on track for its scheduled May 2015 release.

Joss Whedon wrote and directed The Avengers, which garnered a whopping $1 billion in ticket sale at the box office just 19 days after its release. Disney is obviously happy because there is more money to be made and Whedon must be stoked that he is at the helm of the film’s sequel. Whedon, whose writing credits will now include the teleplay, S.H.I.E.L.D, a spin off based on Marvel’s characters, is sitting in the midst of a gold mine. It’s a writer’s dream.

We’re a long way from 2015. In the movie realm, that can be considered a lifetime or just the opposite. A great deal can change in two years, but Whedon has plenty of time to pump out a stellar script. I’m amped for the scheduled release. Very few things in this world are more amazingly fantastic than well-written action packed comic book films.
