“And now for something completely different!” or hopefully a little more of the same. The old gang is getting back together... or at least what’s left of it. The upcoming film, Absolutely Anything, will star John Cleese, Michael Palin, and Terry Gilliam. Terry Jones will direct. The only Pythons missing from the lineup are Eric Idle, who has yet to sign on, and Graham Chapman, who is sadly no longer with us.

The animated film’s premise consists of a group of aliens granting wishes to humans just for the sake of a few laughs. The troupe will provide the voices for these aliens and Robin Williams will join them as the voice of a dog. Williams will become an honorary Python for this film.

While the film is not technically a Monty Python film because it is not written by the group, Terry Jones has defended it, telling Variety: “'It's not a Monty Python picture, but it certainly has that sensibility.”

Although Idle doesn’t seem to be on board with the project, as a loyal fan to the legendary comedians, I am definitely on board and expect only great things from the group (mostly) reuniting.

Absolutely Anything will begin filming in April.
