Inception was without a doubt, my favorite film this year so far. While 2010 is so far a pretty weak year for memorable films, it remains a brilliant highlight that ranks among my favorite movies of all time. When it came out, I asked my fellow writers what their reaction would be if a followup film to Inception was announced. Most of them admitted that while they would probably go see it, it's not something they'd be too thrilled about. However, the inner fanboy in me yearned to see more of the film's world, more of the awesome ideas that Nolan had laid out.

Luckily, it looks like we might be able to have it both ways. In a recent interview with Variety, Nolan said,

…one thing we are looking at doing is developing a video game based on the world of the film, which has all kinds of ideas that you can’t fit into a feature film…That’s something we’ve been talking about and are looking at doing long-term, in a couple of years.

While that certainly isn't much to go on, it's still really cool that they're thinking about it. I know I'm not alone in saying that an Inception game, done right, would be intensely awesome. Let's just hope that if Nolan goes through with the idea, he shops it to the right studio.

In other related news, Nolan also told press that he's currently working on the third Batman film, even while an official greenlight has not been given on the script. “They haven’t told me they don’t want to do it, so I’m hopeful.”

When I was watching the film I kept remember thinking "man this would make an awesome video game." Hopefully, if this happens, Nolan stays close to production to ensure that the game comes out with the same level of quality as the film.
