'V/H/S' Trailer is Genuinely Pretty Disturbing

I can't help it, I love found footage movies. I don't tend to get motion sickness and I love the visceral feel the best of the sub-genre can bring. V/H/S has been on my radar for a while, having made it's fairly successful premiere as an official Sundance selection. Now, a red band trailer has dropped that had me making a few droppings of my own. The premise is simple but interesting: a group of criminals are hired to steal a rare VHS tape from an abandoned house. Finding a huge stack of them however, they watch a number of them trying to find the right one. Scary stuff happens.

Aside from the intriguing omnibus premise, the imagery in this trailer are for the most part pretty effective. Some of it looks a little on the cheesy aside, but I've got to say, quite a few things creeped me out pretty effectively.

The five shorts that make-up the bulk of the film are directed by Adam Wingard, David Bruckner, Ti West, Glenn McQuaid, Joe Swanberg, and the directing group Radio Silence. West is probably the best known of the bunch, having written, directed, and edited The Innkeepers, which had a limited release earlier this year.

V/H/S will make its debut in August, presumably on VOD and in select theaters.
