My experience at Legends Mixed Martial Arts Center

We recently had the chance to head down to Legends Mixed Martial Arts Training Center in Hollywood, California to meet and interview the manager Ciera Meyer, as well as partake in a class in the legendary 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Academy located in Legends. Cieara introduced me to the facility and gave me a chance to check out all the things it has to offer. Not only is it a Mixed Martial Arts training center equiped with everything a fighter needs (mats,a ring and an octagon), it offers a complete Gym, locker rooms and showers. I also found out that Bas Rutten and Randy Couture are not the owners of the gym but simply afflilates of the gym. She was extremely nice and invited me back any time. After that I geared up for my Jiu Jitsu class. Check out the video interview and my Jiu Jitsu experience after the jump.
Interview with Cieara:
The whole reason I was at Legends was because of my friend Steve Moreno, owner and operator of Melee Fight gear www.meleefightgear.com, who does the merchandising for Eddie Bravo and 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu as a part of his bigger line of fight wear.

When class began Steve told me that Eddie was actually out of town and that one of his Brown Belt students would be taking over class instead. That was okay with me because all of Eddie's students were knowlegdable and helpful. Also since I have the experience of about a blue belt in Jiu Jitsu, catching on to the 10th planet jiu jitsu style wasn't that difficult. Class consisted of some streching, technique and about 30 minutes of live rolling which was fun for me. I rolled with Steve, who is a blue belt under Eddie, and Pierre who is a white belt under Eddie. The guys at 10th Planet really love to work Eddie's signature guard, which is called the Rubber guard. A lot of the time in class was spent going over moves from there. Overall it was an awesome experience and I can't wait to go back soon. Check out a video of some of the highlights of class.
Me after class:

Thanks for reading and watching! Check back next week for another visit to Legends and an interview with Eddie Bravo.

Really insane video. Thanks for posting. I feel like the only way for MMA to survive is to start opening their fighters up to lifestyle profiles, how they train, what they do during downtime, what their life is like outside the cage. If people knew who these guys were, "outsiders" might not regard them as so insane and violent. Just like we fell in love with boxing in the 60's because we knew the fighters, I think it's important to learn just who these people are.
